Photography reflects moments. It also has the power to transform. A photograph not only captures the essence of a moment, it can transform that moment into something beautiful and creative.
For as long as I can remember, I have loved being creative and sharing my work for others to enjoy. I’ve also long nourished a passion for the outdoors with the people I love. I cherish spending quality time with my family, exploring the beauty of Vermont by skiing, hiking, or quietly enjoying a beautiful day. These moments fill my soul and inspire my creativity.
When I photograph weddings, the themes that always appear in my work are family and natural surroundings. This combination provides both inspiration and tremendous opportunity. I feel like a kid in a candy store, surrounded by moments at every turn, in settings that amaze. It’s exhilarating being able to bring my creative toolbox to this environment — utilizing light, composing a scene, coupling the right lens with the moment about to happen, then making the photograph. With a background in photojournalism, I love being close to the action, allowing my couples to fully experience their wedding while knowing that I will provide them a way to relive each moment in rich detail. I love that couples place this trust in me. It’s humbling. It’s why I’m compelled to continually re-double my efforts, striving to be the best photographer I possibly can be.
I make a simple promise to every bride and groom: that nobody will work harder than I do to capture the beautiful, unscripted, wild and emotional ride that is their wedding. With every moment that I carefully photograph and reflect back to them, I renew my love for my craft. -Andy Duback
